VISAT Arts and Science college, Elanji,  is the new educational endeavour from the Visat group of Institutions, an educational offshoot of Unisis group of companies. Viswajeevanam Jnanam’- Knowledge is the nectar of life, has been our motto from the inception of  Visat Engineering college, a decade back.  This new arts and science college is the realization of a long cherished dream of the great educational visionary,  Sri Raju Kurian, the chairman of Unisis group. It is his dream to convert this lush green meadow of Western Ghat into an educational hub where educational excellence produces globally competent youth. Nellurupara, the flat stone at the hilltop functioned as the granary of the old agrarian past, now paves the royal path towards the transformation of the youth towards a globalized world where merit alone counts. This educational beacon which is symbolized in its emblem, with a wheel of progress and change, envisages a new world order where the spokes stand for the pillars of Quality, Equity, Accountability, Affordability and Accessibility.

      This beginning of the college, affiliated to M G University, Kottayam, with three courses, namely B Com, with Finance and Taxation, B Com with Computer Application and BBA, is the outcome of a well thought out planning to fulfil the cherished dreams and aspirations of this distant hamlet and its old forefathers. It is the objective of the college to materialize the noble notion of equality based on human dignity and thus to provide the intellectual avenues in higher education, in this remote area with the social commitment of establishing social equality by removing disparities based on region and caste. This educational ashram with state-of-the-art facilities and experienced faculty provides an entirely new academic ambience conducive to transform new Indian citizens who are globally competent. A centre of educational excellence along with global competency is our Vision.

    Dr Fed Mathew assumed the office of Principal on 13th September 2022 and other members of the faculty joined the college subsequently and the first year classes began on 30th September 2022. As on today, we have eleven staff members who provide conducive academic ambience.

Emblem

       It is a rich combination of images, symbols  and colours reverberating layers and layers of meaning verging on nuances and connotations. The emblem at the first glance appears to be a coat of arms,  having the shape of an anchor which holds the ship firm and calm amidst turbulence and turmoil. The blue anchor at the centre of the emblem again signifies the tranquillity one may have to attain by the end of an educational programme. The dominant image of the red wheel richly suggests the onward march of progress and change both for the individual and for the society. The traditional combination of wheel along with the bow & arrow refers to the cardinal principles of Indian ethos, the universe as a battle field and the eternal message of  Renunciation and  Non-attachment.  The unfinished part of the wheel , richly suggests the onward journey one may have to initiate by entering the portals of this hallowed temple. The golden crest is the ultimate goal one has to pursue where the golden  shade signifies the fire  as blue suggests water, the two primary natural elements. Any onward journey in this modern world has to be firmly rooted to the traditional values on one side and  has to imbibe and internalise the modern perspectives and outlooks. The motto Viswajeevanam Jnanam’- Knowledge is the nectar of life inscribed in the emblem,  is the watchword or slogan for this perennial onward march.
